This is Buddy. He's our stupid but lovable cat.

Buddy found us in the summer of 1993. My stepson and my cousin were outside playing when Buddy just wandered into the yard. They came running in the house to show him to me. He had no collar or tags and he was starving. At that time I already had Mink and one other cat named Sable, who's since passed away. We asked the kids around the neighborhood if they knew who Buddy belonged to. We finally found the so-called owners. Buddy, who they had called Tramp, was born at their house. When the woman came over to see him she picked him up by the scruff of his neck. Not only should no one but the momma cat do that, but Buddy was a good 7 months old by then! I wanted to do the same to her and see how she liked it! Thank God she didn't want him anymore. I would have hated giving him back, especially to someone like that. Buddy has been a great addition to our family. Although I think he was very depressed for awhile when Sable died. They had always been best friends, always curling up together when they slept. But Sable had a major urinary blockage, caused from the magnesium in commercial cat foods. When she started acting funny one day, I took her in to the vet. I was shocked, I hadn't a single notion that I would have to put her down that day. Urinary tract blockages are much more common in males than females. Little did I know that although Sable was a female on the outside, she was a male on the inside. Someday I'll make a remembrance page for her. After all these years she's been gone I still feel like crying when I think about her. When I was little we always had a cat but Sable was the first cat I had after I moved away from home that was all mine. Anyway, back to Bud...
Buddy has infinate patience. I think it was his worst nightmare when my first son was born. Quinton loved the cat! Loved to lay on him, kiss him, hug him. And Buddy is a lovey dovey thing...but not that lovey dovey! Now, Quinton is 4 years old, and tends to pick on Buddy. (ie: not letting him go when he wants to be)But as much as Quinton bugs Buddy, you can still find that cat asleep in Quinton's bed every single night. He's not the cutest thing in the world. He's kind of got a really wide nose for a cat but we wouldn't trade him for anything!

This is Mink. She's our snotty cat with the attitude.

I got Mink when she was about 6 weeks old in 1992. I was missing having a kitten around, so I started looking in the classifieds in the newspaper. At first all I saw were a bunch of ads for garage sales and used snowmobiles, but then I saw the pets section. I called one house who had a litter of 4 kittens they had found. I went to pick her up one night, all 4 of the kittens had siamese-like markings. Two gray, one black, and Mink who had more traditional siamese coloring. She was the cutest thing! We brought her home and Sable hated her! Hissed at the poor little thing. So for those first couple months Mink followed me around like a puppy. When I sat down anywhere, there she was cuddling up with me. And she loved to be by my face. That was fine with me until I found out she had fleas! She started getting these little scabs that someone told me were from fleas. Took her to the vet and that's what she had. Let that be a lesson to us all! When you get a new pet, get it during the day and take it to the vet...before you take it home! Well, Sable finally accepted her and Mink became more independent. Exactly when she turned into a major snot I really don't remember. She still sort of likes me but no one else. She'll rub up against other people but more times than not, when they bend down to pet her she tries to bite them. Maybe it's the siamese in her. One thing about her that's totally unlike pure-bred siamese cats is that since she was spayed, she's gotten very very fat. Spaying changes a cat's metabolism and many times makes them gain weight. She does have the pretty blue eyes like siamese cats though. Unfortunately, the picture of her turned out bad though so you can't see the blue. One of Mink's enduring qualities is this funny thing she does. Sometimes when my alarm goes and I don't get up right away, Mink will come in and rub her nose against mine and occasionally give me a little nip. I'll rip my head to the other side and she just moves over to that side. I remember once when I won't up to my husband laughing his butt off because he had been watching her do it! So, she's not all bad!
