![]() This tutorial was written using PSP version 7.02 but should work with other versions. It uses Selections which you can download HERE. I'm assuming you have basic knowledge of the tools in PSP and the use of the layer palette. It also uses the Texturizer Filter and Eye Candy 4000 but can be done without them. Included in the zip is a color guide. Just use your dropper tool to select the colors. Or chose your own! Let's get started! Open a new image size 450x500, transparent background. Add a new layer named head. Load head selection. Flood fill with color #1. Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 25 blur: 20 color: black Deselect. Add a new layer named beard. Load beard selection. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 25 blur: 15 color: black Deselect. Add a new layer named sign1. Load sign1 selection. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Apply the following Inner Bevel: ![]() Deselect. Add a new layer named sign2. Load sign2 selection. Flood fill with color #3. Apply the same Inner Bevel. Deselect. Add a new layer named left hand. Load lefthand selection. Flood fill with color #2. Effects...Plug-in Filters...Texture...Texturizer. I used these settings: ![]() Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 100 blur: 25 color: black Deselect. Add a new layer named right hand. Load righthand selection. Repeat the steps used for the left hand: Flood fill with color #2. Effects...Plug-in Filters...Texture...Texturizer...Same settings. Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 100 blur: 25 color: black Deselect. Add a new layer named hat top. Load hattop selection. Flood fill with color #3. Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 50 blur: 35 color: black Now I used the Retouch Tool, Lighten RGB and Darken RGB to shade the hat. Settings for both were: size: 40 - 20 hardness: 0 opacity: 30 step: 25 density: 50 ![]() Deselect. Add a new layer named hat brim. Load hatbrim selection. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 25 blur: 25 color: black Deselect. Add a new layer named cheeks. Load cheeks selection. Flood fill with color #6. Deselect. Lower the layer opacity to about 50. Add a new layer named right moustache. Load rightmoustache selection. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 25 blur: 10 color: black Deselect. Now I applied an Eye Candy Jiggle with these settings: ![]() Add a new layer named left moustache. Load leftmoustache selection. Finish the same as the right moustache. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 25 blur: 10 color: black Deselect. Apply the same Eye Candy Jiggle. Add a new layer named nose. Load nose selection. Flood fill with color #1. Apply the following Inner Bevel: ![]() Deselect. Add a new layer named eyes. Load eyes selection. Flood fill with color #4 (black). Deselect. Add a new layer named right brow. Load rightbrow selection. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 25 blur: 5 color: black Deselect. Apply the same Eye Candy Jiggle. Add a new layer named left brow. Load leftbrow selection. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Selections...Invert. Apply a drop shadow with the following settings: vertical & horizontal: 0 opacity: 25 blur: 5 color: black Deselect. Apply the same Eye Candy Jiggle. Add a new layer named bell. Load bell selection. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Effects...Texture Effects...Sculpture with these settings: ![]() On the same layer... Load bellband selection. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Effects...Texture Effects...Sculpture with the same settings. On the same layer... Load bellblack selection. Flood fill with color #4 (black). Deselect. Add a new layer named holly. Load holly selection. Go to the santasignholly.psp file included in the zip file. Copy. Go back to your santa sign image and Edit...Paste...Into Selection. Deselect. Add a new layer named berries. Load berry1 selection. Flood fill with color #3. Apply an Inner Bevel..Round Preset BUT Change the smoothness to 50. Deselect. Repeat for berry2 and berry3. Add a new layer named text. Load text selection. Flood fill with color #5 (white). Deselect. Now you can merge your layers and export as a tube! You can make what you want with your result but please do not try to make money with it! And you're done! ![]() |
